as the title says, need info on campsites along the wall, please.
t'other half is walking it this year, and is looking for a campsite (or two) in which to base herself for the 10 days. she says she's looking for somewhere around the midway point of the walk. your information muchly appreciated.

I was about to post details of a couple we used last summer after the opening of the LDP, but after that follow up I don't think Iwill bother.:(

Oh all right then....

Roam-n-Rest Caravan Park, Greenhead, OS Sheet 86 GR 656654 is mid wayish and ok despite the naff name. Near the wall and the Roman Army Museum, comfortable and good facilities for frontier country. Gets busy in the height of the season but will try and cram you in as long as your'e not in one of the huge multi axle pikeys. Close to the attractions of Greenhead town!

Other fav is at Once Brewed, can't remember the name, but its at about GR 743667, L/H side of B6318 coming from Carlisle just before the tourist centre and Youth Hostel at Once Brewed. Site is pretty basic, quiet and remote which we like but may not be everyones choice.

Both sites are handy for the LDP and the walkers buses that run alongside it.

Happy rambling :boots:
Cheers

phil thank you very much for accepting my apology and also for suppliying the info, samantha reliably informs me that she intends doing it around june/july. would imagine she will walk west - east as she'll be flying lon-newc-lon. did you do the walk itself? any tips? she's got books on the walk itself, but local info on smaller, less well advertised campsites is what i think she has in mind. once again cheers for the info
