Silly question time before I start this task. Freelander 2000 x reg TDI

Are all the drain plugs fitted with socket type plugs or do I need any out of the ordinary tools to carry out this task?

How many sealing washers do I need to replace.

I will obviously have the car jacked to remove belly plate and drain oils.

When I refill do I have to lower it so its flat and squeeze under to refill and then jack back up after to refit the belly plate etc?..

Sorry for these silly questions its just I have not done this before and would like to have everything to hand before I start.

Have I missed anything?

Thankyou

Paul.

first remove the filler plugs not drain plugs
sometimes they are hard to take off imagine after you had drained the oil
rear diff only filler cap no drain plugs use suction tool to take out oil
ird need only two sockets(use hexagon type)
gearbox basicilly the same with two spanners or sockets will do
i think for all you need four washers (somtimes i didnt change them and still fine)

when you fill up check that the car is leveled jack both front and rear the same or leave on the floor

Can the rear cover be removed to drain the rear diff oil? Or just loosened a little?

its ordinary socket more heavy duty will not slip

and for the other quetion yes you can take out the back plate
just put some instant gasket back on

Thanks again Quack

I did the gear oil and IRD. I decided to leave the rear and just topped it up as it was low.

When I re filled I used a measure and put in only what the rave states.

I could have got more in but stopped. Should I have kept going?
