Have major problem with our 2003 freelander. It's been with a main dealer now since 1st October after having broken down in Switzerland, with a clack-clack noise and puff of black smoke from exhaust with slight loss of power, back in September. The Swiss equivalent to the AA said it was a perished hose and replaced it. The car worked fine for approx 20 miles but the noise & smoke returned. We struggled home and has been with the main dealer since who, today, informed us they have no idea what the problem is after having replaced injectors, two hoses, a valve and various sundry items, the car has also been on their diagnostic equipment since they've had it. Has anyone got a clue to what it could be, it's driving us mad? The workshop has told us they are now waiting for Landrover's technical dept to phone them. It feels as this nightmare will never end. We can't believe Landrover have never come across this problem before.:(
