Hi, all.

I'm thinking of replacing my 1996 Disco 1 Phillips stereo, with a new one. I don't want to chop the wires, and have been advised that an adapter is available that goes between the Land Rover stereo wiring and a standard ISO connector.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these? I think I'm going to have to ditch the CD changer, as that further complicates matters.

Cheers,

Chris.

Hi chris the best plan it to take the radio to somewhere like halfords and they should have something that matches up.Lawson

They have 35 of them on the website, but nothing mentioning Phillips or Land Rover. I guess I just need to find out whether such a beast exists, before buying. I'm guessing my steering/ dash controls won't work with a different head-unit, either :-(.

Cheers,

Chris.

I had to remove the plug from the e bay lead and connect the wires to the cars loom also connect the RCA plug to one of the stereo preouts.

My advice would be to go to Halfords or similar and ask for a Land Rover to ISO connector - very simple very straightforward.

Once you have an ISO connector (before you spend money, make sure there is not one already there!!) you can fit any ISO std radio unit in minutes.

If I might suggest, in the days of music on your computer, ensure you get an mp3-compatible unit and also considor having one with a card-reader on the front panel.

This would allow you to dump songs off the computer onto it, then plug the card into the car stereo and off you go.

A 4gb SD card will hold THOUSANDS of tracks on one card !!!!!!!!!
