Service Cost Differences

I note from today's conversation with two different dealers that the cost of labour is different at each garage:

I was quoted, for a 36k mile Td5 service, the following two prices, all inclusive of parts, VAT and labour:

GBP260 - East Anglia
GBP400 - Surrey

That's a very large difference for the same service!

That's a big difference - it would be worth your while even staying over for a night and getting a short break out of it than handing over all the extra cash for the same thing!

Just bought a TD5 myself but thankfully just been serviced so not due for a long while yet!

Yeah, good point - I wonder how much cheaper it would be to go to France for the weekend, and have it serviced there!

Car's on 32k, so I have a while to go yet - Have resolved to head down to an independent - Keith Gott / Dunsfold / Windsor when the service is due.

Fixed price menu for a 24000 on my 3.9 v8 efi auto is £535 at Kings Langley LR in Herts
Will Have to put on hold at the moment.

Any body get it lower for me within reasonable distance

I pay £125 for mine in Ashton Under Lyne Greater Manchester, it's a place called Northen Land Rover, Tel: 0161 344 2869.

He even sprays all the underneath with the old oil to help prevent it rust.

60K service on my TD5 £361.55
At Lakeland Land Rover.
Had it 3 days had to have winscreen resealed, they gave me a freelander to use :dunno1:

When I took my TD5 Disco (now departed) to Hunters for a 72k service, they said they would price match any other land rover franchise dealer on service cost.

Even so, they weren't anywhere near the price I actually paid at Ashley 4x4 in Stafford - he was about half their initial quote!!!
