Do you have Wolf Rims or LWB Rims on your Disco??
In either case, did you have any problems with the length of the wheels studs? i.e. were they too short?
Steve
If you're referring to the stud being approx 0.5mm below the edge of the nut then don't worry: Apparently that's standard after reading it somewhere in this forum. The steel of wolf wheels are so thick it lessens the length of available stud. Someone said that it's designed to protect the edge of the stud when on military vehicles!! I have them on my defender and they are 0.5mm below the edge of the nut.
Are you using steel wheel nuts or alloy ones?

Here is the situation.
I want Wolf Rims...
I will buy new nuts for them as I currently have alloys on the Disco. The nuts would be the capped sort, so you wouldn't be able to see the amount of thread used.
**addocks and *addocks tell me they won't fit as the rims are too thick - but they will happily sell me some new modulars. The way they tell it, makes it sound like I'll only get two turns off the nut to tighten it.
Another thing I would like is LWB rims (Camel look). They keeptellingme none of the tyres I like will fit them, or it will look strange... whose f---ing car is it!
I really need to speak with someone who's done it!
If you can wait until the weekend and I'll try mine on my mates Disco.

I don't mind waiting - seeing as we're talking about quite a pile of hard earned dosh here!
Steve,
Looking back at some old threads, Jen fitted wolf rims to her Disco. Ask her.
Just for info, the bloke who I'll test my wolfs on at the weekend has BFG ATs on 16 x 7 inch steel modulars and the rear tyres scrape the wheelarch because of the offset. The tyre size is 225(definatly)/65(I think)/16.

I had wolf rims on the Stage1. They'll be fine on any LR I think. It's only maybe a thread or two on the nut that doesn't get used.
I'll have a look at a Wolf tomorrow at work and see if they come with longer studs. I think probably not. Remember that they're a dealer fit option on LR's, and I can't see the dealers changing 20 studs to fit Wolf rims.

Sean,
Hello buddy. I think you'd be right about the studs. It's a pig of a job too.
Ajcoll,
I emailed Jen already - no reply yet. Those tyres sound a bit big for Disco. I think 235/70 is as big as you can go. Or if you don't mind trimming the rear arch a little at the bottom then you can get a 245/70 on.

sorry to jump on this thread, but am having probz workin out what the largest tyre I can get on standard disco1 alloys with a suspension lift of 2", fitting the lift next week, and think the standards are going to look a little puny, don't mind trimming arches etc

Robski,
245/70 is looks nice. Paddocks have the BFG Trac Edges at £65 each in this size. Look here for an example:
www.landroverdiscovery.net
Also this guy (Darren) details the arch trimming required.

Hiya
Sorry - ex-husband now has computer with my e-mail on :( Have to sneek on here whilst at work! :D
We had no problems with the Wolf Wheels and nuts, just brought the nuts with the wheels and they went straight on...although people did warn us about this problem before we had no issues.
I have the paper work at home - can't remember exactly where we got them from - went through quite a few people to find the best price! :) Can find out and post later :coolgreen
Sorry for the massively late reply :goofylook
Jen
P.S. Get them, they look great ;) :D

Thanks for the info Jen.
I'm still pondering what to do. Like I said it's a lot of cash on one (okay four) item, so I want to be sure I'm happy with what I buy.

SG,
Just seen this in the Defender section,
'Depending on the age of your Land Rover, if it is pre 1994 then you will find that the wheel studs are fractionally too short, thus they will not be flush with the wheel stud.'
I'll still check at the weekend find let you know the year of his Disco.

I've got wolf rims with 255/85r16 tyres :yikes: on my 3 door disco. Had to do a bit of guard cutting but no probs with wheel studs. Has a fraction more offset so increases your wheel track for stability.
Steve,
Checked out wolfs on mates Disco today. Studs on his Disco are the same length as my Defender. Stud is just below the top of the nut. Having seen the wolfs on his Disco, he wants some now. Although there is a slight offset with the wolfs, it's not as great as the steel modulars he currently has which scrape the wheel arches. He has a 2" lift on his too. His Disco is a 'S' Reg I think. His BFG ATs are 225/75/16 not 65 as I previously stated. Hope this helps

I finally got round to taking a look at a Wolf today.
The studs must be a different part no. to 90/110 studs.
The end of the stud sits level with the outer face of the nut.
Nobody else at work tomorrow so I'll take a piccy of a Wolf rim on a Wolf. I'll also try to look up the part no.s of 90 and Wolf studs.
If we've got any on the shelf I'll even measure them and post the results!!

I'm still running the alloys with BFG tyres. I've been lookign round for some rims recently though. I'll probably get some before easter - when we're off to Kirton Lindsey.
