Sorry if this has been discussed before.
Which lpg system is best for a old 3.5 twin carb v8?
Everytime i give my Landys details for a quote they always quote me for a single point system, not a multi point system, is this right?
As you can tell i have not got a clue about the differences between the systems and which system suits which engine best.
The best quote i have had was a quote for a tinley tech system for £900.
All help is gratefully received.
Phil.

Simon Hobson is your Man, has a good website on his V8 110 with some nice tank installs,
Mulit point is usualy for EFI engines, though I have seen a couple on Carbs, Went like stink. I like Multi point but many dont as they invole a box of tricks
Lost of the money is in the tanks where are you looking to mount yours, I also assume you are looking for someone to fit it for you? It does tend to make insurance easyer

Yes, for a carb engine, you would normally fit a single point mixer system, even if you had an Efi engine (like I have, from a 1990 Disco), for that age a mixer would be 'normal'.
You can put a multipoint injection system on it, but there aren't many that will run 'on their own' rather than slaved off the existing petrol injection ECU - and to be honest, there are cheaper ways to get the little bit of extra performance (like fit a 3.9 from a Range Rover).
The best quote i have had was a quote for a tinley tech system for £900.
That could be good or bad - don't know what's in it. For mine, the hardware alone cost me about £1200 - but there's about £300 in the petrol tank, and £200 in the rear tank alone ! Take a browse around my website (in sig below).
If doing mixer(s) on dual carbs, I'm in two minds on the best way to do it. I never got my Disco quite right - mostly because the mixers were wrong, and so were the second set I tried. Eventually (after I'd sold it and it failed it's next MoT) between the new owner and myself, we converted it to a single mixer and it ran "quite nicely".
So, I would either :
Duplicate most of the front end, two mixers, two reducers, two power valves - one set per side.
or
Fit ONE mixer as I originally did on the 110. It worked far better from the off than the Disco had done, BUT there is a bit downside - you look at the length (and hence volume) of inlet between the 'T' behind the carbs and the cylinders. That makes a BIG BANG when it backfires  To avoid damage, I left the jubilee clips loose on the U-bends so they can blow off when it happened.

It certainly is !

Depends on the insurance, but you are unlikely to get insurance without a certificate these days. I discuss that on my site as well.
