I have a 96 Disco and can't make my mind up whether to shell out £140 for one of those retractable rear steps. Is it worth it?
Is it a useful fitting or just a gimmick?

I've got a nice tow hitch that works just fine as a rear step! :wink2:

What other toys could get for £140?:p

I've got one, makes a great seat! (insert sarcasm here).

Question is, do you need it ie; do you have a mofo roofrack you can't get to any other way? re you 4ft tall and can't reach into the back space from the ground? As was said, the bumper and towbar make a great step. Save the money and spend it on something you really need (like a new stereo system! or towards the next set of tyres)

Thanks for replies, £140 is a bit too much for something that will see only occasional use. Now where is that accessories catalogue!

Cheers.

why not go for a tow bracket mounted step,
poss downside,
1 you do a lot of offroading
2 you dont have a tow bracket,
3 you have very short legs and cant reach this either?
:p
