Anyone know of a garage where I can get a scan on my Discovery 2 that is cheaper than the Main dealers price of £85.00 per hour plus vat?
East Yorkshire area?
Anywhere that has got the "Testbook" software needed?
oh have I got to go to a Main Dealer?

Also you will have to take it back to have the fault code reset after you have fixed it and pay again, and if there is another fault showing you will have to pay again and again etc. Thats why I and many others have invested in a Nanocom, only costs the price of two fault readings and two resets.Gives you the satisfaction of giving the system the finger and will read all other faults as well.

I agree 100%, nanocom is worth its weight in gold, how ever, I recently had to use my local independent for the first time as I had an ACE fault which I believe Nanocom does not currently cover. Once it does, a shopping I will go

It's OK to get a Nanocom if you only have the one type of vehicle, we work on pretty well everything.

I have a Snap on Solus Pro, Gendan and Auto Enginuity programs and loads more on a laptop. The Snap on needs 2 upgrades a year at £425 each to keep up to date, it's no use having 2005 software for a 2007 car.
I looked at a Launch 431, but can't justify the cost at the moment.
Not all machines will communicate with all cars. Vauxhalls are particularly difficult. It's not the ODB protocols for the Engine management ( you can buy a scanner off Ebay for about £15 to read that), it's all the other systems.

The new upgrade, among other things is for D3, the electric parking brake on Renaults and the Merc brake system that needs switching off before you can work on the car.

That is what you pay for, not just the 10 minutes of time.

Ask Jonv8 how much his diagnostic kit is, just for Land Rovers. It is more than most people here have paid for their trucks.

I have about £4500 worth and I have relatively little.
