I reckon I have found where my '97 300TDi is leaking water into the drivers footwell. I have removed the rh guard and sealed all the likely points of water entry but no joy. I then rigged a hose on an adjustable stand and directed water onto the roof gutter......no water, windscreen base.....no water. Next I directed the water flow down the gap between the front of the door and the guard, eureka water in cabin. Looking further into it I removed the grommet around the wires that power the door electrics, this allowed me to see water running down the inside of the A pillar panel and down the wiring loom.
So how is it getting into this panel? Is it seeping in around the interior light switch or running down the plunger when it is pushed in? Is it getting into the sealed area around the door check strap? Or is it making its way in around the rubber seal for the door wires?
My money is on the first 2. But I will need to investigate further.:)

;) Had similar problem with my 04 ES. Local garage put me to windscreen firm who checked and found leak at top corner of windscreen rubber, on passenger side. They added that previous Discovery models had come in with leaks usually from sunroof seal, but also from cracks in guttering caused by flexing of bodywork.
Friend also had footwell leak, but that turned out to be from air conditioning set-up under the dash!
