Can you use that linkage, as the picture of your transfer box does not show the "flatted rod" coming out of box at front? Yours appears to have a cover over that part.

According to this (http://www.discoveryownersclub.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=22282)thread on the Discovery Owner's Club forum, Ashcroft have one in development. However, when someone on the thread called them, they wouldn't give a date.

Why don't you want to use the hard linkage from a Disco 1? I assume that it would work?

Has anyone tried using the D1 linkages?

Not sure why you would want to add diff lock when Traction Control works so well.
Is it the case that if using diff lock Traction Control has to be switched off?

Not Sure traction control will help if loose traction due to a problem like a blown Diff or Prop problem.

Using both at the same time is supposed to work very well on the D2. The very last cars made had the CDL factory fitted as well as Traction Control.

Fitting and using the CDL has a hugely beneficial effect on the offroad ability of the Disco 2. If it is retrofitted (as was done on my 2000 TD5) , you actually have the option of using CDL with or without TC.

I have the shaft with the flats on it fitted to my 01, td5. does this mean its set up for difflock or do you have to make internal changes? Is there a dash light to show difflock is engaged?

If yours has the square shaft as in the pic - then yes - your box is set up for CDL.
Yes there is a light on the dash that is already wired to show when the CDL is locked.
Check your system out - climb underneath with a spanner ( IIRC either a 10mm or 13 mm) , turn the shaft and the CDL will engage and the light will glow.

Thanks for that, I quite fancy puting this to work as traction control left me stuck on a flat but muddy field recently. Now all I need is the linkage.

Been reading up on this on the Rave cd---41-14&15. It states that engaging the difflock will disable the abs system and is only to be used for testing. Iwas under the impression that both could be used together for extra traction.

Depends on what year it is The later ones are OK and were set up to work together. And no, I don't know how to tell

Hi Guys
The early Disco 2's (up to about 2001) had the transfer case with the CDL present , but no linkage. For these cars the CDL can be engaged by climbing underneath with a spanner or by using some after market linkage installed.
If the car is started first and then the CDL engaged , the TC and CDL will both be operative . The car is then seriously off road capable.
If the CDL is engaged and the car then stated , the TC will be tripped out and the 3 Amigos will greet you with their bright faces. (no problem - they will reset if car is restarted with CDL disengaged) This allows you as driver the choice of driving with CDL and no TC , CDL with TC, or No CDL and no TC.
It is a fairly simple matter to change the wiring so that the TC is not tripped , if the owner so wishes.
Hope this assists

Thank you for that I was getting confused. No mention at all of that in Rave.
