Good evening all I have just found this Forum as i purchased my first Land Rover Discovery 1 v8 lpg. And like most of you, seem to have been bitten by the bug.

I purchased it at a reasonable price and apart from a new set of tyres, it goes fine but we have this problem with the plastic on the dash that has lifted and I have been told that it is a common accurance, it is also an expensive item, though that would be through the local agent< I have now found a very reasonable outlet called Brookwells who come from Bovey Tracey and Plymouth, Does anyone else have this problem ?

I believe there is a neat dash kit to repair this problem. It entails fitting this special moulded trim over the curling edge and fastening it down with screws. I saw it on the web one place was Devon 4x4.

go back to the devon4x4 site, click "about us", in the text box starting "We are constantly upgrading", hover your pointy thingy over the middle of the bottom of the boxand you should get the finger up for a map an contact details.

ps if you speak to em tell em that yellow text on a white background just never did work, you need eyes like a sh1t house rat to make it out...

Good Morning Manthing,

Did that and have now found them, yes thier web site is really just rubbish and I never understand why people put up half finished web pages. Just a page giving instructions etc would have done until they were ready to put it all together. Will now try and give them a call and hope they post as I live down the south and they are in the north.

Fitted the MPS 4x4 kit last year. The job took a bit more than an hour. The tricky thing is to exert pressure on the screw to drive it in as the work area is inhibited by the slanted windshield (as you already know that). The L-shaped screwdriver like the one on the pictures is a must. I also replaced the screws that came with the kit with black, self-taperd/drilling ones (small, dense tread) as the underlayoing plastics isn’t ticker that few millimiters. And this is a definitly two person job as you’ll need somone to hold the kit in place while your’re panting and ranting trying to get to the screw :D Cuting of the edges of the delaminated trim could help too.... here are few pics:
