Seriously folks, this is a bit extreme but what the hell

For the record, I took one of these to Italy a few years back, two up, camping. A very tight fit but very comfortable, honestly. No timing belts:D or overhead cams for that matter. 2000 miles in 2 weeks, fitted spare water pump in Belgium but the head gasket finally went on the way back, along with the starter motor.

I subscribe to the Toppa school of mechanics, cable ties, galv fence wire and a pair of pliers can fix most things. Alright, I took a water pump because I knew it would fail and a half shaft as the reason for the trip was blasting up mountain passes and Midgets can eat them.

They key thing was it was my everyday car. I knew how it behaved, its' foibles and issues. On this basis, I would happily take a Series Landy anywhere but maybe a NAD or 200TDi 110 would be just a bit more tollerable.

All credit to the man, driving a Midget round the world is quite a thing to do. With tthe notoriously un-reliable triumph engine too!

Me, I wouldnt hesitate. Just need to put it together again, again. The Italy trip was great fun and again, I would do it tomorrow in an old car if it was a know quantity. As for my SII, I wouldn't go further than I could walk in a day!

The Spriget should have had a reliable BMC A series engine in it.

But of course, mine has an A series but round the world man has one of the rubber bumper 1500 models.
