Hi Happy New Year,
My 2001 disco TD5 wont start. It started after standing for 5 days then conked out after about 1 mile. A few things to note where...the fuel light had been for a bit! and the dash lights were not working (first time this had happened) This morning I went for the run out of fuel option, so put 3 gallons in...did the priming thing, six times like it says in the book. didnt start thought as it was parked on an angle I thought the fuel might not reach lift pump so put another 3 gallons in, went through prime sequence again. By this time needed jump start and it still wouldnt start, I checked the fuel coming from the fuel cooler with the lift pump running and it 'gushes' out. I have decided to re charge the battery and have a go tomorrow with fresh battery.
I have had a load of work done on it including new injectors, wiring loom, lift pump, clean tank, and pre heaters and it has been running fine for about a month.
With the jump the engine seemed to turn over fine.
Any suggestions on possible priming errors or ideas gratefully accepted. It will have to spend another night abandonded on a dark lane.
Cheers
