Hi to you all,

I have recently bought a 54 Plate Freelander TD4 Sport premium and noticed it was serviced at 42K and as it is now on 60K but no Service light showing or stamp in the book, I have on the side of caution got it book into a Nationwide Autocentre.

When I rang up for a Interim service at £92 which is a oil and filter and inspection they said they were doing a full service special offer for £99 which will include air filter and fuel filter change.

What I am concerned about is.... will it be ok for them to use parts that are not LR parts and will the oil and filter they use be ok???

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Alan

Firstly, there are no Service Interval lights on a Freelander.

Secondly, Nationwide Autocentres seem to have a good reputation with the CSMA members, so I wouldn't worry about it, they will use good quality oil and filters.

Please let us know how the service went. I have recently purchased the same car and when the time for a service arrived I was quoted prices ranging from about £450 to £580 by Land Rover dealers. I eventually found this guy on Ebay who stated he worked for Land Rover and had now set up on his own. It went OK, but I did have a problem after, but couldn't say for sure whether he caused it. He charged £170, which is a lot cheaper than Land Rover and he says he does the same job.

The vehicle is out of waranty so there is no need to rely on Land Rover Genuine Parts or LR approved dealershipes, etc. However, it is essential that the service centre uses the right oils/coolant.

If you are happy taking the vehicle to a service centre that's fine. I prefer to take my Land Rovers to an independent specialist who lives, works and breathes Land Rovers, and can offer relevant advice and spot potential problems, rather than just swap a few service parts.

Cheers
