Hi All,
Every so often (say once a week) I unlock as normal on the key fob but when I open the door and get in there's a red flashing light on the instrument panel and a corresponding beeping....stops as soon as I start up. No other symptoms that I've noticed?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Could be notifying you that the battery in the fob needs replacing!

It's the alarm system light showing it is turning off.

Thanks Guys, shouldn't be the fob as it's fairly new anyway and regards the alarm turning off how come it only started about 3 weeks ago and never did it before? ah well everything else seems fine so will leave it for now.
Thanks again

If you look in the destructions it says that it means the battery in your fob is on its way out. Mine has been for a couple of months now, but i keep forgetting to change it

Okay thanks for that, I'll probably end up changing it when I get locked out or with the alarm blaring away!
Cheers all.
Mine has started to do this occasionally... But the fob battery is brand new!

My battery not brandnew but last week I had the same thing happen to me, but only once and not anymore thereafter. My guess is that due to some outside circumstances (distance, obstruction ?) the signal doesn't come in as strong as it should be and that therefore the computer thinks the FOB-battery weakened and ready to be replaced?

Not a bad theory...
Mine hasn't done it for a few days... Until earlier today when I approached the car carrying an aluminium equipment case under my arm. I had papers in my other hand so operated the fob from within my pocket, and in such a position as to be partially obscured by the case...
Now;aluminium will partially screen the signal and so... Red L.E.D. accompanied by bleeps... Must try operating the fob at a goodly distance and see if that provokes it...

Mine does it every time when I push the fob twice to open all the doors but not when I just open the driver door and the battery is new.

Mine does the opposite to the last post (for the last couple of months). When I press the fob once to open the drivers door and open it, it beeps and red light flashes. When I press the fob again for the second time to open all doors, beeping and red light stops.

As today the battery of my wristwatch dropped death and as I was on the way to go and get a new battery the car acted again as described, when entering the car the red light flashing, as this happened a few times now these last weeks I took the opportunity to buy another battery for the fob. Inserted it and calibrated the key with the car again and tried a couple of times to lock/unlock and all ok so far. Hope it will stay ok for the next 4 years. (My old battery was put in on the 29th of May in 2005, the first and original one went on from 9th of January 2001 (delivery date of the car) up till the above mentioned date so it looks as the batteries have a lifespan of around 4 years. Inside the fob it says : Panasonic CR2032 so in the shop I asked whether they had Panasonic CR2032 batteries but they told me that the battery typename CR2032 is used by all the battery makes. It's kind of a universal code to point to a specific type of battery and is not an internal code of Panasonic as such. In fact now there is a Maxell CR2032 in it.
