I got up bright and early to try and get some work done on the disco.

started her up, drove about 8 miles to pick up some servicing bits.
all was fine on the way back but i started hearing a relay clicking, it sounded like a relay.
did not worry to much cause i'll look at it when i get to my dads.
i went to break and nothing happened apart from the peddle and ABS going mental, felt and sounded like the wheels has locked up but i was not stopping and the wheels was spinning fine.

It did about 3 more times on the way back.

i left for a couple of hours when i doing a oil change. tried again and it was fine but the ABS light was on.
It was fine for the 100miles back home.

any one came across this before or have any ideas?

YES

I have the same fault with my Disco. Its highly likely going to be a ABS sensor. I had mine at the LR specialists and they plugged it in and diagnosed it to be the NSF sensor. I have ordered a new one but for now and for safety I have removed the ABS fuse. You Disco will brake as normal but it will just be like driving one without ABS. Take it to a garage and get them to diagnose the fault.

just found a post on another forum with the same fault (lost the link now. bollox!! :().
they said sensor or servo pump thing.

the car had the CV joint replaced on wednesday.
Might be a really stupid question but does the sensor need to be removed or umpluged to change the CV joint?

If so i got a feeling its the OSF sensor.

I don’t think they need to remove the sensor but it could be something is lose and is giving a faulty reading. My OSF wheel bearing was ever so slightly lose and the vibration set off the ABS. Tighten it up and all sorted.

Worth asking whoever fitted the CV to be sure it has the reluctor (?) ring: Non-ABS CVs don't need one.
The sensor runs on the outer edge of the CV. It should have been withdrawn during the CV swap and re-fitted in contact with the CV. Initial rotation of the assembled CV creates just enough clearence.
