Any views on long lasting 18" tyres (255/55/18)?
I had Good Year Wrangler Hp's fitted all round which lasted 28k on the front - I replaced these with the same again at £250 for the pair. the rears have now done about 30k and are getting near their useful (or should that be legal) limit.
I had hoped that they would have done a bit more than this, anybody got any advice on what works best for them, the disco is used exclusivley on road.

To be honest i think 28-30k out of a set of tyres isnt that shabby for road use especially on a 4x4. I got my new car its done 7200 miles and the front tyres probably wont make 10k. Lawson

I too have Goodyear wranglers 255/55/18 on my Disco S2,they are ready for replacement now after 40,000kms.I dont think thats bad.
I only get about 20,000kms out of the front tyres(Continental's) on my van,and 8-10,000,kms out of the Pirelli P Zeros on my Porsche.
Having said all that I've decided to change to General Grabber AT2's when I change them in a week or two.

Have original Wranglers on my 04 TD5 ES and they hardly seem worn, though the car has only done 23,500mls (previous owner used it only as a holiday car up kept in Scotland). Was told that Pirelli's were better on the road though?

After the OEM Michelins on my Disco 2 TD5 lasted 58k, I changed to BF Goodrich AT's (245/70/16) they have now clocked 86k and still going strong !!!!!!
So to summerise, she's clocked 144k and is still on the 2nd set of tyres :D:D:D
Must be how you all drive :cool:

It would seem that the 16" tyres can last an awful lot longer than 18"s and have a vastly superior choice of tyre as well as being a fair bit cheaper, wouldn't mind downsizing to 16"s!

So here's the plan.........
New Wranglers on the front 1000 miles ago,
Checked when mot was due, disappointed to find out it was 2 days ago and not April as I thought:eek:
2 rears also need changed so General Grabber AT2's ordered and a comparison (unscientific) will take place to see wot lasts best!
