Hi

Just bought a '98 XEI, already have a '97 Disco. Is it possible to put Mk 2 headlights onto this car or do they do mk 2 look-a-likes?

Thanks Noel

Yes, but you need to do quite a bit of modifications, plus a new bumper.

Try using the "search" facility here as there have been posts on this in the past.

Some before and after pics of my Freelander. The last pic also shows it with a lift kit and Rally wheels fitted. Next will be a full interior roll cage.

Sorry, doesn't help much really just seeing before and after pics. This always left me frustrated whn I wanted to do this conversion.Lots of pics of the completed article but no real explaination as to what to do.
You will need, as previously mentioned, a new 2004MY bumper, 2004MY lights, obviously, and wiring .To make the wiring side easier you can buy a plug and play loom from Tornado Motorsport.Expensive at £220 but at least it saves chopping up you'r existing loom.If you do wish to chop then I suggest you get plugs from a BMW Mini as they may be easier to get hold of.The wires on the new plugs are all black so it's hard to identify what wire attaches to you'r existing loom.If you aren'y too good with electrics, then this will be a job for a mobile auto electrician.
You will need new plastic brackets for the new headlights to sit on, around £8 - £10 each.Without these the headlights will continually vibrate and eventually snap their top attachments.
You will also need a jigsaw - or angle grinder (be careful with the angle grinder, they're not as precise) to chop away a portion of the healight mounting panel. You should be able to guage how much from the new headlight. It's not a great deal but just enough for the lower part of the headlight to fit. An alternative to this would be to drill out all the spot welds and weld or pop rivet the later headlamp panels in place. They are special order only I believe and are around £40 a side.
I may have forgotten something so if you have any more questions, just ask.I'm sure both I and others on here will be able to help.

Those aux lights are the FL "pod" lights. They sometimes come up on Ebay.

That's it's original V6 bumper. The pods and bar were optional extras. As Llanigraham says, the pods do appear on Ebay from time to time but IIRC they will only fit the V6 bumper as it's different to the 1.8 and diesel bumpers. I sold the bumper complete with pods, bar and wiring loom and I believe they have been fitted to a 1.8.
