Hiya
My Series 2 Landie has started with 'odd vibrations' between 1200 and 2000 revs, not gear dependent. Was serviced just after Christmas and no problems were found, and the problem has only started in the last couple of days. The gear stick vibrates (more so than on a normal landie, and i don;t keep my hand on it) and the vibrations can get so severe that they make my sat nav attached to the windscreen shake to. Its a W reg thats done about 128000 miles, with about 10000 of those in the last 6 months.
Any advice appreciated, i'm not massively technically minded (ie my brother who lives in England normally has to help me work out what is where), but i have no desire to be ripped off if i have to take it to a garage as i have no idea whats wrong!!
Cheers;)

Hi welcome to the forum !
Is it a td5 or v8 ? I presume you.ve had wheels checked for balance etc ? Does it seem to come from front of car ? could be suspension or drivetrain problems ? more info would be helpful please

Its a TD5 diesel. Vibrations do seem to be coming from the front end, and came on quite suddenly (ie 2 days ago with no warning). It had new tyres on at christmas and the tracking and balancing was checked. I am a farm vet who does have to go down some quite rough tracks, but nothing more than your average disco has to cope with, and i am careful!! Hope thats some help

Could be a number of things -bearings , prop . driveshafts - without physically wriggling under and start giving things a tug - hard to say - dont worry someone will come along soon that might have had the same problem
sorry I couldnt be more helpful

Crankshaft damper on Fords, Jags and Peugeots vibrate at about that speed, not sure about TD5s, never done one.

Porny will know.

Get underneath and check the front prop as I had this trouble for a while & it did my head in,got the wheels balanced twice .when I got underneath I noticed on the uj had a bolt loose & stupid me thought I'd do it on the weekend & on the way home from work the prop snapped ,so don't be a doughnut like me & leave it.
