What is the members views on the best oil to use in Diffs, R380 box and transfer boxes? there seems to be a wide variation in Haynes manual and owners manual.

Also does the Td5 really need fully synthetic engine oil or will semi synth do ok?

There are specific types of oils to be used but a wide variety of makes.

For example, in the diffs and Trans box, you should use EP type oil with a spec of 75 or 80 - 90.

In the R380 gearbox you need to use MTF(Manual Transmission Fluid)94.

On the subject of engine oils, use a 5w-30 or 40, semi or fully synth - change regularly (I do ours every 5000mls) with a new filter each time.

It looks like it's gone up in price since i ordered some last night :biggrin:

Texaco makes MTF94, it is sold as MTF94, just find one Texaco dealer. LR MTF94 = Texaco MTF94 = Caltex MTF94

Thats quite cheap my local dealer charges about £8 litre and thats with a discount!:eek:

Thats right but if you can't Texaco then all the major oil companies do a MTF oil .
