Has any body got any recomendations for hotels or B&B's in France?

My girlfriend and I are driving through France and Spain heading for Morocco in Oct this year, and are struggling to find places with good secure parking etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Rob

Rob,
If your just after a basic room then you cant go far wrong for the money with the formule1 (http://www.hotelformule1.com/formule1/index.htm) or etap (http://www.etaphotel.com/gb/home/index.shtml) hotels. They are both like cheap UK Travelodge's.

There are also a small number of Travelodge's in Spain now.

Hope that helps.

Google "Gites" and see what pops up.
They are approved by the authorities and are usually good value for money.
Bit like B&B in the UK

(was wondering what your question was from the title):rolleyes:

We use B&B Hotels (were Villages Hotels, but most now sold to B&B). They aren't luxury by any means but they are good for a one night stop-over, shower is en-suite unlike some F1's. B&B's tend to be right by the side of the main routes so you don't have to track far from your route to stop for the night. First time I used B&B was just outside Cherbourg, they have a "Buffalo Grill" right next door, ate there, not cheap but the Mexican style food was great. B&B's don't do evening food but they do breakfast at about 6 euros pp, not a full English but Continental with coffee. And... you can reserve online, you can cancel up to 24 hours before but your room is "held" if you arrive late, you then check-in using your credit card.

I think all B&B's have gates that are locked at night, if not it will indicate secure parking on the site. Take a look.

When the pound was stronger four people, 2 adults 2 kids, could stop for £40 inc breakfast. If there are more than two of you not all locations have 4 person rooms, buy it is clear on the website, where you can also check the prices.
On the way back, from Tunisia, we use Novotel as a bit of a treat, cos the monthly pay check has normally gone in the bank by then, ha ha.

hello mate,
I know it sounds like advertising but we run a b&b in france down in the limousin, not sure if you are coming down this far but there is tons of green lanes out here some of which are brilliant for short cuts for us locals but some that can be a bit serious. plenty of things to do and see while you are here, drop us a line.....
