thats the problem nowadays. Caravans have got heavier as people demand more then just basics.Full size cooker/fridge/air-con the list goes on.Why do people want to take their house with them, they may as well stay in a chalet or cottage and have all the mod cons they can get.
Thats why the vans are so expensive to buy because people cannot put up with a little less while camping
Sorry
off soapbox

Thats funny, we have a static as well as a tourer too.Its got no plumbed in services either.Power by batteries charged by solar panel, calor gas coooker and fridge plus water from tap 50 yards away.
Who needs mod cons.pretty curtains and a washroom you can have a party in .

our family have had a van in this village for some 30yrs and the first one i remember had gas lights, a sink that flowed to a waste bucket an as you say a tap in the middle with the wash room, and get this an OPEN fire that we used proper coal in...
you have all on getting one in a house nowadays, in that van when the "double" bed was folded down it was about 18" from the front of a roaring fire.
Jezzzzz and I'm still alive
