Roof Rack

Hi everyone I really want a safety devices roof rack but am aware that these are no longer made also aware that now & then a rare one turns up on ebay.

I know that some people have made copies of these & just woundered if anyone knew of anyone who makes one or where i could get one from?

I have the plans and materials to make my own. So when its done I will put up some pictures. I may be persuaded to build another!!

Safety devices are going to start re making the "adventurer" roof racks again, although they will not be cheap and the first batch is destined for the US, dont know why this is, but "probably" because they sell more of them over there.

Sorry to bump this post, but rather than start a new one with a similar theme.....

Anyway, I notice the overall query wasn't answered so with that question still open and some extras here we go.

I would like to use a roof rack on my TD5, and was wondering if I am better getting one for the front, on the roof rails, and a separate one for the back, or an all in one, front to back complete? What are other Disco users experiences?

By the way I'm not going on safari here, holidays is about it, towing a caravan time to time.

I have a roof box I will need to use as well occassionally.

The other thing is about the ladder for the rear door, is that worth it? Can you reach it okay from the side step without one?

Yes the ladder is worth its weight in gold, not just for accessing stuff on a roof rack or in a roof box, but for opening and closing the rear door (you will never use the handle again) and for getting up there to wash the roof as well

You have to get a ladder well worth it. I kept standing on the rear wheel on the door & over time I bent the wheel hanger abit.

So for the cost well worth it.

there is a factory roof rack here in kansas city. they are asking $600.00. it is on ebay or craigs lists. i just saw it. good luck with it. i bought a used rover racks brand roof rack from a local land rover dealer mechanic. . mike
