200/300 gearbox

any one know if a 200tdi box fits a 300 tdi or if i have to change any thing ?
been offerd a box for free of a 200 tdi from a mate, mines a 300tdi , just wondered if it would fit.

As long as its a disco box(longer bellhousing) you shouldnt have much trouble.

Either my clutch has gone or the box has but i wont know till i get it off. my mate said i could have his spare 200 box if its my box thats gone.

Are they the same gearing?

I believe the LT77 and R380 have slightly different dimensions and bolt patterns? I may be mistaken mind.. Not to hot on the later stuff!

someone correct me if im wrong! but i was told when i was needing a gearbox for my 200tdi that the 300tdi box wouldnt fit!

I know you will need the x member too for the mounts,but I was fairly sure bellhousing will fit up,hmmm,got me thinking now,will check tomorrow.

I have a stack of lt77/r380 boxes and apart from 2nd gear synhcro wearing,if they have oil in them they rarely break

Funny you say that as my 2nd gear synhcro is worn, but if you take your time into 2nd its ok, just when you need it in a rush it grinds a little :D

well i found out whats up with my disco. Its not the box, its the clutch, thankfully.
Its broken in half :eek:, i've not seen it done before but it shows you it can happen :)

yes the clutch went on my 200tdi the same in half and all the springs out my 2nd gear crnches a bit to its normal i think
