View Full Version : D2 Headlights
Hi all
I'm getting my D2 this weekend - cannot wait.
When I bought my Defender, the first thing I did was to replace the headlight lamps with something brighter. Will I need to do the same with the D2 or does it have good ones?
Also, how easy would it be to put HID headlights on?
thanks

"I fitted these "Extreme Brilliance" lamps to my Disco. There was no increase in brightness (checked with a watkins light meter). I intend to return them to Halfords for a refund. The price was much too high at £18.99 for 2. You will probably gain more by giving the headlight glass a good clean inside and out."

I fitted D2 lights to replace my 300 ones as reports said they were better (plus I like the black rim) and thought they were worse, so I tried some of these bulbs and they have definitely made a difference but perhaps the actual colour of the light being whiter is the difference, I have also replaced the dodgy plugs on the rear of the headlamps (done before the lamp change).
My opinion they illuminate the road better.

These came top in the autoexpress 2008 tests
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/230106/philips_xtreme_power.html
Among the 50 plus bulbs, original equipment suppliers Philips and Osram are at the top again. The former takes victory with its X-treme Power, which produced considerably more light than any bulb here. Osram’s Night Breaker came second, and no other bulb was close in terms of performance.
