Garage i go too say i need 15w/40w as i getting oils fitters and belts done went to halfords the geek got the little book out and said i need 10w/40w what should i put in the disco with 204k on the clock , thanks

Sounds about right. 5W40 or 10W40 are the recommended.

Don't bother with the very thin stuff for the age of engine, you'll just end up burning a lot of oil!

I now buy supermarket own brand at £8 for 5 litres (turbodiesel oil) which is the correct spec and change oil & filter every 6 months. Mine has 140k on it.

Thanks i put some 15w40w then how much oil would it take ?? , thanks

About 8 litres IIRC

You need 2x 5 litre containers. That will give you enough to top off between services.

Tip - when you change the oil filter, prime the new filter with fresh oil before you put it on, this will save wear and tear on the engine when you first start it after the oil change.
