firstly ill say hello to everyone, im james, a newbie on here :o, and i have a question..
sorry to jump right in but does anyone know the standard settings for a 300tdi injector pump? reson i ask is mines been really sluggish, and after checking all the usual intercooler, sedimenter, boost pipes etc etc, ive knocked the diaphram in the pump from 6 o'clock position, anti clockwise, to 10 o'clock (popmark on the plate is now at 10) just to get it to go somewhere near what a standard disco should.
goes much better now, bt id rather know where the diaphram is ment to be, that way it will become obvious whether by moving it, ive cured it, or by moving it ive simply hidden a problem elsewhere.
any help on this is welcomed.
Oh and for some reason it tops out at 60mph, 3k rpm, whereas 2 mates discos will 70 at 2.5k rpm.

Hi, The diaphragm spindle has a tapered eccentric section at its lower end that controls the fuel delivery. If you rotate the diaphragm too far you may get the opposite effect to that expected. I found this out on a Volvo 740td estate.
Turned the diaphram too far and car went like a rocket but the black smoke from the exaust was unbelievable, so then, bit by bit, made small adjustments until I found the happy medium twixt power and economy.
