hi all, sorry if i sound a little green, all this is quite new to me so im trying my hardest to enjoy the problems my new friend is causing me as i guess thats the point of a landy eh?!?!?!
i've only had my freeby 3 weeks now and it has spent more time leaking coolant than not, i've had the main metal pipe section replaced, as that was the source of the first leak, and that seems fine but a few days after that was fixed the heater failed to heat and the temp guage was reading hot, and low and behold it was leaking again but i cant find the leak.... tried all the obvious and gave it a dose of 'bar leaks'...can anyone help?? it doesn't start leaking until the engine warms a little. looking at my hanes i'm guessing it could be water pump but as i'm a novice i dont want to spend all weekend under the bonnet to fail.:confused::confused:

Fill the coolent up again(use water this time) and have a look/watch the thermostat housing unit...where the pipe is conected sometimes gets coroaded and then leeks coolent.
Pretty easy to fixing Using Quick-seal

Does the car steam up..? My '99 freelander diesel had been leaking coolant for a while until I made the connection between the car steaming up and the water loss. Appears freelanders have a bit of an issue with the heater matrix (stuff up behind the dashboard) leaking. Mine was loosing about 1/4 pint a day..!
The heater matrix can be changed but pick a warm dry day because you need to take the dash board out. I'm guessing its the first componet Landrover fit to the interior of a freelander apart from the paint..
