my 2001 disco |(cairngorm) wont go faster than 50mph done 85000 miles any ideas

What model is it and are there any other symptoms, like smoke under load etc?

Hi special edition (cairngorm) td5 series 11 7 seats - no smoke had air filter changed at garage computer showing no faults?

I'm not an expert on the TD5 but I might start with the fuel system e.g.;

Filter blocked
Sedimenter blocked
Fuel lift pump problem

Maybe the Turbo wastegate stuck open or the rod come off.

Or Blocked fuel filter, or oil in the injector harness.
Ours would only to about 50 with a blocked filter.

Mine wouldnt rev and it was the fuel pressure regulator :(

Thanks for all your replies - especially "get out of 1st gear" made me laugh. My disco in garage having a new air flow meter? fitted hope its not too expensive.

I just cleaned my air flow meter today. I put some electrical contact cleaner on some cotton buds and wiped the element down carefully. It has made a big differnce to the running of the car. It's smoother and much more eager to rev out.

Mine would likely benefit from a new meter but it's way down the list at the minute:(

Thanks for even more replies - should get disco back today Fri will let you all know how much it cost. Next time i have a problem (hopefully not too soon) i will ask for adivce before i put it in garage. Thanks again. MORAG
