View Full Version : How full should my coolant bottle be?

Hi,

My Disco 1 manual says that I should refill my coolant bottle if I can see the "plastic bit in the middle". The level is currently just above this.

Is this space needed for expansion, or can I safely top the bottle up to full?

Any preference for what to put in it?

Cheers,

Chris.

I take the centre seam around the bottle as the level. If you over fill the bottle the excess will blow out via the valve in the cap any way. 50/50 antifreeze/water I use the 5 year stuff from Halfords.

Cool (pun intended) ;-)

Thanks,

Chris.

DO NOT TOP UP TOO FULL !!!!

It's called an expansion tank 'cos.......................

50/50mix of antifreeze and water, do a coolant system flush every two years, including the main radiator.

Cheers,
