As every one knows i have a disco 2 which i purchased from a main dealer in december 08.It had four brand new tyres.
I picked a nail up on the back tyre and had to take it to kwitfit. They advised me that my front tyres needing tracking as there was 7mm on the outside and 5mm on the inside.
Spoke to service where i purchased from. They told me they would correct it and charge me £75.
I then spoke to the service manager i had only done just over 4k miles. He said the tracking could have needing doing when i purchased it as they never check.
So am i out of order wanting it doing for free somebody said they are lucky i'm not charging them for 2 new front tyres

I think all cars's 4x4 should have the tracking done before they are sold on to people but most places will never check the tracking & kwitfit i would never be seen there as they are a ripp off always have your spare in good nick ready to go on ,, But i don't think you are out of order wanting it put right ,How come you never noticed it being out .

Brian, I suspect that you will have paid through the nose for a Disco from an LR dealer and the reason for paying 'over the odds' is that you expect some service.

This vehicle was not correctly prepared at time of sale, in my opinion, so I know I would be after the £75 as an absolute minimum and really a couple of new front tyres.

Good luck and don't take no for an answer.

We don't check the tracking on every vehicle we sell, it isn't pheasable or practical.

When we test drive a car before the customer takes it, if it veers, drifts or pulls, we investigate further. It could be tracking after a component change or the previous owner kerbed the vehicle. It might even be accident damage.

We don't make a charge if a customer comes back in our warranty period. As long as they haven't hit a kerb or some other incident, that is down to driver error.

the problem is quikfit lie about things and are not beyond inventing braking and alignment problems to get a bit( lot) more money out of you

it may or may not have been wrong, but if i was the main dealer id point blank refuse to compensate you, as it your fault not his that your gullible enough to believe what these joker have told you

and 75 quid is extortionate any way, 20 is about the going rate

i used to be a rover tech and rovers warranty cover for tracking issues was only for 2500 miles.(on new cars)
reasons being how many pot holes and speed humps can a car go over/through in that time??
also thats a very fair distance to notice a pull/drift on a car as you will have got a good feel for it by then.
i guess that you never noticed a drift or pull on the car in the 4k you have done in it then?
that said with used cars we allways used to do a free track up if it came back in within 6 months or so
