Hi,just purchased a set of wading plugs for my disco,1 for the gearbox+1 for the cam case.i have been told they can only be used for a short period and can not be left in perminantly .how long is a short period can i leave them in for 6 hours of offroading,and why cant they be lft in all the time?please can i have your views.many thanks

The idea is that they should only be put in when they are needed ie when wading.
Otherwise they should be left open so that any leaking oil or muck can drain away, rather than build up and damage something.
6hrs is nothing at all to worry about - 6yrs is different !!!

Hi,going to frickley tommorow instead of tong,went to tong last time.the only reason i am asking is frickley looks to have a lot more water than tong.although i dont have a snorkel i dont go mad in water and only let it come as high as the sills.when at tong last time at the end of the day the clutch was smelling and slipping(alright now)this is why i bought a set of wading plugs,dont know if the mud got in anywhere.if 6 hours is not a problem i dont think i will bother.many thanks

Had my wading plugs in for the last ten years, never had a problem.
I take them out once a year just to check but nothing has come out of the holes yet.
