EGR Valve

Seems my 94 300tdi is a little gutless (well rubbish) on takeoff, once its going it pulls like a train so i was wondering if i was to block off the EGR would this help?
Reading here and there blocking this valve seems to be the fix and i have seen the blanking plates on ebay for this.
I have no idea what this valve is for, where it is and if it will damage anything if i block it off.
Anyone have any thoughts or tips?

New cambelt 3 months ago and serviced 2 months ago.

Use the search facility, there's a lot of stuff on the site telling you the benefits and how to do it; yes it's worth doing.

There is a timer on the search and EGR returns nothing.
I did search before i posted.

Try "EGR Removal" - it worked for me.
