Hi Maffy,
My guess on your aux plug would be as Chaser said, on the back of the head unit. A small hole would need drilling to make it permanently accessable. Is there no mention of it in the destructions? It seems odd that it is a menu item with no explanation.
I have an i pod in my car that i run on an FM transmitter. You plug it in and set the frequency that you want to use (One thats nowhere near any radio stations that you can get), set the radio to the same frequency and off you go.
They are widely avail from places like Argos, Belkin i think is the main manufacturer in this country. I think that most of them run on AAA batteries. Unfortunately, they just plug into the headphone socket so you need somewhere in your car to put it. You could just get your passenger to hold it!
I got mine from an American Naval base in Bahrain. It sits in the cup holder on the dash with my Ipod on top of it so i can see it easily and it also plugs into the lighter socket which is ideal.
I will have a look at the make of mine when i go to the car, as i would highly recommend it, even if you have to import it.
If you want anymore info let me know.

Hi Robbie, hope all is well with you and yours. thanks for the info, just got to work out how to get the unit out? dont mind having a loose lead and jack plug, can soon tape that up & loose it.
by the way, you and your missus going topless!!! what a sight to behold!!
take care, maybe see you at Driffield- am planning on coming up for the day--do you know if it is OK to take dogs into the showground? dont want to leave my babe's at home.

Hi Maffy,
You can get "keys" to get your stereo out from place like Halfrauds. They slide down the side of your head unit and press in the locking lugs that hold it in place, so you can just slide it out.
The cables for an ipod are actually quite expensive, so you may be as well just buying an fm transmitter. I will post a pic of mine in a bit.
I will be at Driffield, hopefully camping. I will have the RRC back up and running by then so i will be taking that around the course. I aren't sure if you can take dogs in though.

a guy i know through smart car owners clubs, made audio leads for the smart standard headunit. it had a 3.5mm headphone jack on one end, and a square block on the other, and plugged into where the CD Changer would normally go.
his website is www.evilution.co.uk (http://www.evilution.co.uk), and the guys name is Kane. Im sure with a wiring diagram of the rear of the unit he might be able to knock one up for you
