I know them.
They are really good, but must be used with the correct padlocks.
Something like this (http://www.tooled-up.com/MicroCategory.asp?CID=19&SCID=135&MCID=2919#prodlist).

The part left on the body (not door) looks a little lite weight to me, as do the parts that the padlock locks. Obviously better than the standard locks :)
Quite common are some locks by a Black & Decker company who's name escapes me now, but will check my vehicle tomorrow. They are much better I think, and only £12 a pop when I got them about 5 years ago. No screws are left exposed etc
Footloose 4x4 used to sell them.

I have bought several Abloy locks over the years, and I absolutely swear by them. They're expensive but:
1) They are virtually impervious to the elements. The one on our gate motor is exposed to rain, mud, dust, pollen, vibration etc. It's never been oiled or cleaned in 10 years, but I guarantee it will open without any hassles.
2) They are also virtually indestructible. You can't drill out the cylinder because they have a hardened boron steel spinner in the way. The hardened shackle is immensely strong... a file doesn't even scratch it, and it laughs at ordinary bolt-cutters. In one robbery that we had at work, the thieves cut the hinges off the gates rather than try to cut the locks. Another time we had a fire alert at our premises, and the fire department used the jaws of life to open the anti-burglar bars. They bent the lock, but it didn't open. Even the fire department had to resort to cutting the hinges
3) The key is coded to you personally, and only you can have keys made for your locks. All of you locks can have the same key.
4) They also make a series of hasps and staples from hardened material, which is also incredibly strong.
They're here: http://www.abloy.com/008/inet/abloy_en/akp.nsf/frameset/Frameset?OpenDocument&left=/008/inet/abloy_en/akp.nsf/WEB_Nav?OpenView&navcat=&main=/008/inet/abloy_en/Frontpage.nsf/0/2A25ECD26BBCDB40C22572C90032AA5F?opendocument&top=/008/inet/abloy_en/akp.nsf/Top?ReadForm&topcat=Products

how do they fit on the landy????

They fit on with four flat head bolts for each half. So eight bolts per harsp/door protected - the bolt heads are hidden so they are hard to get at etc.
Many overlanders put these on the backdoor at least, I have them on all three doors.

Has anyone got any experience of the Van style ones like these:-

See a lot of them about on white vans...and they come with a padlock within the price...any thoughts?
(just noticed a selection on the machine mart site linked earlier - under vehicle security)

No worries!
Stan, potentially they are quite good if they are not fussy about dust etc (though you might not be travelling around like I do).
They key point is if the bolt holes line up with something on your landy doors that is solid and drillable and won't interfere with the door etc.
In that sense the Corbins listed above work fine with a 110 - but the padlock is free to flap about on bumps etc (rubber on them helps) wheras your proposed solution looks nice and solid. But does it fit? ;-)

Hi,
The van style ones don't fit, I've got one and had to resort to a latch and padlock, works just as well. Too much bits of metal in the way i'm afraid
Cheers,
Iain

Thanks for the info Iain! Saved me a wasted purchase!
I quite like the idea of the Hasp detailed earlier - might be able to colour code them as well to make them a bit more subtle!

IainWill the van ones not work on a 90, I can see how they wouldn't fit on the side doors of a 110 or 109.

Hi Stumpy,
Im talking about the rear door, no idea about the side ones
