First of all hi to everyone
i've just bought a late 2006 (mk1) TD4 sport 3 door which i'm due to pick up next weekend
It has the black roof rails which i wont need so i'll probably remove those but was wondering if i'd need some blanks to fit where the rails were on the body?
I'll also be fitting some stainless side tubes (for looks) and was hoping the fixing holes would already be in place and would i need a tool for the nutserts?
I've had a FL in the past (S plate) and i fitted sidesteps but the nutserts were already fitted
I'll be on here asking quite a lot as i like to modify my cars so will be looking to remap or fit a tuning box at a later date along with numerous other parts
Cheers

Hi Robby!
Don't put roof rails down ...
Freelander is much nicer with them ...
If you still put them down then do a new owner also front fixing brackets which are part of roof rails. Any how when you put roof rails down you will need some blanking parts for front holes and at the back where roof rails are mounted on the car ...
For fixing any type of side steps you can buy on eBay complete fixing set with all rivet nuts and screws you need to fix them on your Freebe ...

Do the blanking covers come painted or are they supposed to be black?
The only reason for removing them is they might catch on the tilting garage door - not sure of the exact height of a sport model with 18" alloys and roof frame/ rails?

welcome.....:)
the standard model heights including roof bars and cross rails are,
3 door, 1808mm (5ft 11.2in)
5 door, 1828mm (5ft 11.9in)
i'd guess if anything the sport model will be lower. Wheel/tyres are likely to make little difference as the bigger wheels have lower profile tyres.
My five door fits under a standard up and over garage door.

Robby ...
First change garage doors ... :D:D:D (joke)
Real first thing to do is: get the car and try it how it goes into garage ...
Those covers are black as black plastik in front and back of roof rails ,,,

Well i've adjusted the garage door and the lowest points now are the catches which are 1850 so it should be ok
I can't try the FL as it's over 200 miles away - not picking it up until this friday :)
do the dealers sell the black covers from stock or do they have to be ordered in? (just in case)
