We,re going to have a look at a 2001 Freelander for the LOML - I,ve read the sticky thread from TEMPL4R at the top so the question is - Is there any other issues that need looked at or discussed with owner before parting with the cold hard folding stuff ? Its a 2001 3 dr with 50k miles - 1.8 !
Thanks Scott

I suggest you search the forums for threads on head gasket failure of the k series engines before you make any decisions.
Petrol engined freelanders can be trouble!

Make sure all the windows and door locks work.
Check for water in the rear, under the mat.
Check for knocks and bangs when you pull away and corner.
Check for vibration or noises between the front seats and by your feet.
Look at the colour of the oil in the sump ( dipstick) and the filler cap, and the water in the header tank. Put you finger in, rub the inside and see if it comes out sticky or oily.
If the rear tyres look as if they have sharp edges to the treads, be wary.

The 1.8 head gasket isn't too bad a job to do, so if you like the car and the price is right, buy it.
I would be very wary of a V6 though, they are not a nice job to do a HG on and the timing belts and intake manifold cost a fair bit.
