Right I have just seen that 109 Station Wagon in the For Sale section and am mildly interested but in the unlikely event I do purchase it I have to get it home.
Hiring a trailer shouldn't be a problem but would I be breaking the 85% rule towing a 109 on a trailer with another 109 or does this rule only apply to 'vans? And if so, how the hell else would I get it home:goofylook

LOL Tim, I can see you're tempted aren't you? :p
The short answer: You should be all right towing another 109. :)
The long answer: I've never understood this 85% malarky. The law says you can tow as much as the manufacturer says you can tow. LR says with a normal braked trailer you can pull 2000kg. A 12-seater diesel station wagon weighs 1709kg unladen. So if your hired trailer weighs 291kg or less, you'll be under the limit. If it weighed a bit more, I know what I would do :buck: but that's your decision!
HTH :)

Tim.....if the Duchess can tow a 109 SW on a Indespension Trailer then i cant see how your own 109 cant.
How else would you get it home ?
Ask for help from friends :)
I'd be happy to help with towing if you were really keen on getting Hentooths SW and were stuck.......
....see its eazy pezy :yay:
The 85% rule is not law, only a guide figure for inexperienced towers to be able to tow safely. You will only get into trouble if you are trying to tow with something that is clearly not designed to do. As long as you go steady, you will be alright.

Ah good, so I needn't worry too much about the new Swift Conqueror I've bought, to go behind the wife's SMART car.
Excellent :behead:

Good site this gives kerbweights for lots of different vehicles, shows manufacturers recommended and the 85% weight. From what I can gather if your vehicle is over 2 litres forget the 85% rule.

Thanks mate - not, I'm looking for people to talk me out of this lunacy:hahaha:
Gaynor looked at the pics tonight and she likes it, the idea of a fully syncro 'box appeals to her (even if they are crap).
I'm going to see it Sunday, watch the Station Wagon forum for more details folks!!!

Thanks for that O/F, we have an Indespension place just down the road from here so I will hire one of their units.
Funny thing is I'm used to towing motors on trailers from my rallying days, 'tis 'vans that terrify me:icecube:
