Hello all...

I've not been here for a while.... :Lurker: after I got rid of my 51-reg Freelander :freelander: , I got a Freelander2 :freelander: :freelander: (Freelander twice/2??) , and started to frequent a forum that was purely for Freelander2......But now, I have bought an Disco as a plaything.

The 57 FL2 was getting far too scratched with my Greenlaning, so I thought a offroad toy was in order...so now I am back!!

When I bought it (January):

Its a '94, 3Dr 300tdi....2"lift (Cheap box-section version, not a real lift), 10000lb wireless winch with appropriate bumper, faulty Midlands3001 CB

Since I've had it:
Timing belt change (Just in case!), LED repalcements on all indicators/tail/brake lights
Replaced corroded gutter mount with mag-mount & Springer aerial, replaced CB with a new one, Stripped the rear floor & plugged some of the rust-holes with pop-riveted plates sealed with a combination of additional undersil, silicon & hammerite.
Front & rear brake pads.....All 4 Front wheel bearings
Rear Dislocation Cones, extended bump stops, EGR blanking.
Replaced the axel breathers, & routed up to behind the washer-bottle....ready to run up the snorkle (See list below;) )
Crank-case vent (breather tube inserted into the inspection cover by the FIP)

On the "To-Do" list (In order!)
Replace &/or extend transfere box/gearbox breathers (How the hell do you get to the Transmission Breather to take out the banjo??? Do I need to grow extra long double-jointed arms??)
Replace the fairly worn 235/75R16 Sahara tyres with 235/85R16 Somethings (Hopefully Kumho KL71's....Depends on the £££'s)
Fit some 200tdi rear lights & double-up the rear position lights/indicators (Wiring is in place, just waiting for the lights to arrive from ebay)
Extended Braided brake pipes when I got for a "Real" 2" (maybe 3") lift
Snorkle
Roof bar/lights

I've been to Bures pit a few times since Jan, but my main interest will be greenlaneing (oh, and using it when Im off shooting, fishing, falconry, mountainbiking & Scuba :D)

So, there...thats me...Im back, & look forward to some friendly Green-oval banter (& some free advise! ;) )

Welcome back!
Easiest way with the gearbox breathers is to use whats there, chop the hooked ends off, couple of push fit air pipe connectors and run new pipe wherever?

Yeah, I'd kinda thought that was the case about the breathers....but I cant even locate the Gearbox one.....I have a couple of straight 6mm push-fit connectors....I just need to find where to push'em!....

Oooh...I forgot, I also fitted a steering-guard, and have diff-guards ready to fit, but was going to replace the axel-oils 1st...

What do u mean? is it possible to get the upper lights working on a 300tdi??

Well, I'm assuming so!....On the 300tdi the upper lights are used for Brake, reverse & Fog.....The Brake is a Twin-filiment bulb, but the position-marker ("tail light") isnt connected.

I have found the appropriate wires at the rear Offside (In the "boot"), and run a couple of wires to the nearside upper lights (Indicator & tail light) when I had the rear carpet out, when I was patching the holes in the floor. I also ran a couple of short wires up to the upper rear Offside lamp assembly.

When the 200tdi lights arrive from ebay (any day!) it should be a simple case of connecting the two extra wires to the appropriate terminals on the connector, and hey presto...I should have additional rear inicators & tail light in the upper lights, away from the mud....

As per original post, all the rear bulbs are LEDs, so draw next-to-no current.

oh, & if anyone else wants to fit LED indicator/taillamps, you'll need to pop each wire out of the electrical connector & swap them over....use a tiny watch-makers screwdrive to pop out the terminals....LR have a habit of reverse-wiring some of their bulbs....LEDS dont like this.

Absolutely, a piece of cake if you are prepared to buy some new tail lights.

It's a plug'n play swap - the wiring was all in place, on my '98 Disco's.

Mines a 94 Disco....not quite so easy, as only 4 wires go to the upper lights, Common earth, Fog-feed, brake-feed & reverse-feed.....I have added the 2 extra wires roughly in place (Indicator feed & tail-light feed), but not 100% sure how to get on the correct terminal on the new lamps, until they arrive....I'm hoping I've used a Lucas-terminal that will fit in the "empty" locations on the big-flat connector....

When the new lights arrive, I'll take some pics & post up.
