Firstly, this is NOT a moan.
Since getting my Discovery 1 back on the road, the list of problems seem to be getting longer, the missus and kids think "Bag o ****e" but for a strange reason, I do not seem to get annoyed. ( Frustrated sometimes but) If it was a Peugeot or Ford I would have got rid of it ages ago.
The list so far...
Water Pump.
Overheating (Thought it was head gasket but appears not).
Heater matrix leak.
Alternator bearing worn out.
Front wheel bearing shot.
Air in braking system (not sure why, but scared the crap out of).
Electric window mechanism seized.
Electric seat, driver side motor packed up (peed missus off cos she's a short **** and it broke in extended position).
Gear lever selecter plate broke causing no 4th or reverse (thought I had a ******ed gearbox, cost me £4.50 to rectify).
Others forgot, but this all happened in the last 9 months since car back on the road, when it was on the road, the only thing that went wrong from new was the alternator, it makes you wonder it may be an age thing, like the human body:D

We all go back for more!
Thing is,yes it will break,in fact its inevitable! But when it does is generally fairly easy and relatively in expensive to repair.

Yeah I know what you mean.:D
See my post about my boot floor story.....if it was any other vehicle, it would have become a tin of value Morrisons baked beans by now.
Ya gotta love 'em.

You see ....it doesn't matter what those green enviroMENTALists say...... Land Rover vehicles/parts are the most recycled items in the world.

Just found out why brakes need bleeding, I feel such a pillock, the reason for the "air in brake system" was not the case, it was in fact one of the other problems I listed, wheel bearing. It was so bad that every time I braked the wheel would wobble so much , that when the brake pedal was released, so much slack in the wheel pushed the brake pads apart. Thus next time I braked, the pads had "airspace" to fill before they actually toached the disc's. As said I'm a pillock and extremely lucky, the bloody wheel could have come off blah blah blah.
One big leason learnt...Check wheel bearings regularily and do not ignore wheel fibration through steering wheel (Thought it was mud on inside of wheel knocking off balance).
Changed bearing tonight, had to grind off remants of back bearing shell left on half shaft, no ball races left, rear seal non existant, I think it was only the grease holding it together. Oh well someone must have been looking out for me this time, I shudder to think if it had actually gave way at speed!!!:(

Bit of gossip for anybody using Land rover dealer in Basingstoke.
I tried to get a replacement side indicator repeater today as yesterday whilst green laning locally in the evening, came into an argument with some local foliage and lost!!!
Visited new site (Used to be Webbers but now others). They have moved to a new site at Daneshill, mecca for car dealerships.
Land rover seem to be bed fellows with BMW to name but a few, felt sorry for the guy who tried to serve me...No indication apart from on his shirt that Land rover parts were even their amonst all the BMW crap!!! poor guy did not even have his own desk, upshot is I ended up going to Keith Gotts in Alton as for one new dealership did not have the part I needed and two they wanted £17.00 + vat for something that KG charged me just over £3.00 for. Do your sums, I think KG will be getting more business as Land rover dealer seemed to have missed the boat and think we are all mugs!!!
