optional folding rear seats

I have a td5 with folding rear seats in the boot.The base of both the seats lock into position but the back of the seats do not come up. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so is it easy to fix

welcome to to site, Clean out where the seat locks to the floor its not locking fully

Sometimes you have to be quite "violent" when you slam the seats down in order to get the backs to lift up properly....or is it just me?

Had that problem - discovered there is something like a cam under each seat which you can lock by hand ( they seem to become stiff over time ). Once this is locked the back comes up every time .
In my case no amount of lifting and banging down would help as the linkage in this case had become too stiff .
