Hello,

Last month I bought my 1st Land Rover, a "nearly new" Defender XS 90 Station Wagon, whose only previous owner had accessorized generously. :D

The only mod I want to make for the moment is to fit a smaller steering wheel as I have upgraded from a self-modded 1996 Suzuki Vitara, which had more (= some) right elbow room. Any suggestions of what would be a good smaller diameter, straight fitting replacement?

I've driven 500 miles so far. Roughly 100 miles per 1/4 tank going on the meter (15 litres per 100 miles then).

Hi and welcome to the forum:)

I have a 13" steering wheel in my 110 and my wife has a 15" wheel in her 90.
To be honest there is not much difference between them and they still dont give you a whole load more elbow room.
The main reason for me fitting them was that we replaced the seats with seats from a Saab 9-5 and the seats themselves sit a bit higher, making a need for a smaller steering wheel.

They do, in my opinion, look better though!

Hi I have a 310mm steering wheel - about 12" on a quick release boss and that seems to help quite a bit. The quick release boss is a security measure so you can take the wheel with you when you lock the landy up. I also like the feel of my wheel over the stock one - I have a padded suede Sparco wheel.

Never heard of such a wheel, but it would also remove the necessity for a wheel disc lock-cover. Where did you buy it please?
