Well I noticed my rear silencer seems to have parted company with the rest of the vehicle.. so who knows where thats gone. Anyhow, is there a straight through pip I can buy to replac it? Its not loud and I would prefer a cheaper option than a silencer section :)

I think Paddocks do a straight thro' pipe replacement for the centre box for about 50 quid, comes with a hanger bracket welded to it, one end flanged with a coupler.
Check the rear end of your current box though as some Disco tail pipes are sleeved, others are flanges.

Sorry, just read your post again :o - no, don't know if anyone does a straight through tail pipe
Don't know of any one doing an off the shelf one, flexi exhaust seems favourite but your rear pipe may be scrap.

You could get a standard tail pipe and chop it up with something from these...

The rear box on my 300TDi rusted out so I had it removed and a length of pipe bent up and fitted at the local exhaust shop. Had the same done to the particulate filter up front.

Was in local tyre distributer (Who does exhausts as well) getting 2nd repair on bead seal leak, (My fault) I asked the question about modifying exhaust whilst I was waiting, they kindley said to go and speak to exhaust guy, most help ful chap (Ex Land rover racer), said he could modify there and then and do away with both silencer boxes.
£40.00 later and mods to existing pipes (With hangers/flanges intact) and a bit of welding/bending, I'm now the proud owner of a straight through exhaust system (Including Cat as 1998 model) sounds more fruity (Not lke V8 though) and appears to improved low end grunt.
Yet to check fuel consumption figures, but no mixture problems and runs/starts like a dream.
I supose the proof in the pudding will be MOT time and fuel consumption!!!

So BigAl are you saying you have only got the particulate filter left on your exhaust system? The rest is just pipe?

If you mean by particulate filter as a catalitic convertor, then yes.
A marshal at muddy bottom 4x4 club did it ages ago and said he has no problem with emission on MOT etc, but that is UK law, so I'm not sure in your country!!!

It must be pretty loud now? I ran a straight through system for a couple of days but it was waaaay too much.
My previous system was standard sized,no middle box, just the rear.Sounded lurvely
Current sytem is 72mm stainless with centre box and no back box, doesnt sound quite as nice, but defo improved flow as egt's run around75 degrees lower

From the car, you can hear a droan, one of my daughters says from the outside, louder but nothing like a petrol engine with no silencer.
Was looking into fitting a cherry bomb to improve note (Reliving my youth).:D
Good side is, when off roading, exhaust does not get snagged forward or reverse, seen plenty ripped off when trying to reverse out of holes!!!
The man who converted to straight though, kept all hangers and flanges, so if at worst fails MOT all I have to do is get a back box section for 30 squid.:)

Result! does it exit through the side now then?
I too saw/had quite a few end up wrapped around the rear axle after backing up banks, gets tedious very quickly!:)

Wos going to, but chap did not have decent hole cutter, so decided to take it straight back, even angled end, had to bend pipe up slightly to take it above level of tow bar frame. Kept tow bar on as I find it give protection to fuel tank without the need of a tank guard. Only trouble now is I need to make a steel plate up as I keep having to clear out behind tow bar plate as it acts like a mud scoop and I have to empty contents after every venture off road. :D
