Hi all
just bought a 2000 td5 discovery .been stood for 4 months so gonna service.purchased service kit off ebay where and what is a rotary filter.i drove it back from wrexam where i purchased to leics just over 100 miles and it lost about 1/2 a cup of water.openened filler cap after standing 2 days and it was slightly pressurised im thinking head gasket no rise in temp.its been chipped and has a k&n filter & a mahoosive intercooler goes like cak off a stick.also noticed if i floored it whilst doing 70 for a second it was like clutch slip.88000 miles does it sound like i bought a pup.

Hi Spudd, Welcome to Landrover Ownership! The Rotary filter is the oil filter. This is a very efficient filter then "Centrifuges" particles out of the oil and allows 12,000 mile service intervals! You may hear it spinning down when you turn the engineoff after it is warm. Sounds a bit like a turbo running down. It is under the turbo somewhere! Is your car an auto or a manual? If its an auto, it could just have been trying to kickdown? if its a manual.....I think you may be looking at a new clutch:( Was it a private buy? A garage should do it under warranry if you bought it from a garage. Or just don't use all the power until you can afford it!! Hope this is of help
