Can anyone help a newbie please. I need to replace the lock mechanism on my TD5 Disco II drivers door. The central locking is now dodgy. I have two questions, apparently I will need to strip the door card and remove the glass and frame to access the motor pack but have conflicting instructions. To remove the door glass one set of instrucutions I have read says to tape the glass into place in tgh eclosed position, the other says to lower the window to allow access to the window riser bolts. Anyone done this and know which is right - I don't want to disconnect electrics and then find the window glass won't move and come out.

Second question is simple - does the door mirror cheater panel just prise off? I can't see any obvious fixings and the panel and mirror need to come off to remove the window frame.

Any help appreciated - thanks - Phil.

Move the glass up or down in order to release it from mechanism.

Once released, tape it to the glass frame [ the channel] and lift the whole lot out.
Not a bad job. There are either 1 or 2 bolts more or less than stated in Haynes.

Pretty sure that the cheater just clips of.

Thanks I'll give it a go - I'll try to take a few photo's and so long as my efforts aren't too embarrasing post them. Cheers - Phil
