I have just bought myself a 1999 Discovery 2 TD5 Auto. I will be making the following changes and would like some advice on what springs to put on. I am looking to compensate for all the extra weight, and to accommodate the tyres. I would be happy with a very small lift (20mm or so) but don't want to mess up the steering geometry or put undue strain on drive shafts etc.
I will be making the following changes:- :D

Canging tyres to 245/75 R16
Front winch bumper
Goodwinch 9.5i
Steering guard (Steel)
Southdown front axle guard
Rear steel bumpber (devon 4x4)
Rear diff guard/ rock slider
Southdown tank guard
Guardian rock sliders
Some sort or snokel and breathing kit (not sure which yet)

Any advice appreciated

Thanks
Tim

Forgot to mention - it does not have the air suspension at the rear - just standard springs

Hi - I'm running my TD5 [2000] Disco on 245x75 - 16 BFG ATs with a Warn XD9000 in an ARB front bumper. It has steering and diff guards, steel rock sliders and a full Patriot rack so probably same sort of weight as yours. I've run it on Old Man Emu HD shocks and springs which give about 1 1/2 inch lift for about 5 years now. No problems with weight, steering or geometry. I haven't needed to fit castor corrected radius arms and have now done about 50k miles on this set up. It's quality stuff and does the business on and off road. Hope this helps - Phil.

Thanks Phil

How is the steering as far as self centering goes. Does it seem OK or is it a bit vague.

Tim, steering is very precise - no problems and no issues with self centering. Handling is very good as well. If anything better than the standard, and I drive a lot. Regards. Phil.
