Hi everyone,

I am about to de-cat my exhaust cause I have heard & read on here that
it may increase power but also may improve my MPG.

What I wanted to know is that some people have said to me that I have to remove the EGR valve first otherwise doing the exhaust wont work at all.

Is this true, I do intend to remove the EGR at some point but I have had to buy a new exhaust due to the old one being in a bad way.

Thanks for the help

What do you want out of the de-cat? People do it for different reasons.

If you are after more power and performance have a chat with our tame tweaker Porny at IRB Technologies (http://irbdevelopments.com/90_Kev_pg1.html), he'll be able to give you the ins and outs of what is worth doing.

He sells the EGR removal kits (very nice billeted stuff) and de-cat pipes.

Both of these mods are incremental, so doing one will give you a part improvement, doing both will give a bigger improvement.

I've done 5 of these now and I find that:

1. De-EGR- gives an improvement low down in the rev range for climbing hills etc - not huge but noticeable. Remember to wash out the intercooler for full effect.

2. De-Catt - gives a more noticeable improvement in immediacy of pickup, improved mpg (30 to 34 on my wife's truck "Dora") and just can't be beat for value for money.

Just doing another one today, so as you can probably tell I'm hooked on these two mods for TDi 300 motors.

i did mine two well blue . red i just tweeked the pump and got rid of the egr. and to be honest it has enough power just like that . blue i did but also did away with the cat and seems a little more fre reving but thats about it . iff you just want to make it more drivable and get rid of the flat spot i would just clean the intercooler out fit an egr blanking plate and tweek the pump (slightly). its easy enough to do . alan...
