Hi all,

Has anyone replaced the brake light switch on a Disco II TD5?

I ordered one and received this - http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php?xProd=99409&xSec=5497

Thye unit I removed however is this - http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php?xProd=99933&xSec=5497

I also got an adaptor cable as the connectors are different.

The new one doesn't appear to want to fit.

No brake lights at all. The hand brake cable snapped some weeks ago - I'm only now getting round to fixing it. Could the problems be related?

Many thanks!

Sorry, didn't explain that very well. Tha adaptor cable fits perfectly and it appears I have the connection type necessary. It's the new switch itself which doesn't appear to want to fit in the bracket over the brake pedal.

Thanks

The one you have received, as much as I can see is the cruise control brake light switch, is there a nipple to attach the cc rubber hose.

Thanks Discool.

Nope, no nipple.

I've been through every mention of 'Brake Light Switch' on the forum. Can't seem to find a similar problem. However, there appears to be an issue with the BLS on Freelanders, and this same unit is the replacement - http://www.roverconnection.com/RR4%20Parts/Land_Range_Rover_Discovery_Freelander_Brake_Switch _XKB500120.html

Well done with your search I follow a few forums and that's the first time I have seen this info with regard the D2 brake switch.
