hi all, just thought id share some pics with you guys and gals on my recent project, see what you lot have to say.

heres some more pics, this where i started to put new galv steel in abit tricky cutting and measure. used arc 1.6 6013s and mig 0.8 wire for welding and found some galv steel sheets to fab to use as the sills.

and more, this is the other side, not as bad as the other just a patch at rear os pass door. after everything was welded in i put some diamond plate on top to make it look good, i didnt wnt to put the trim back on as it caused the rust in the first place plus it looks good to. i sealed and waxed the sills and totaly underneath too.

3 more. i know its not great but it will do, its better that what it was before. this might help someone who is looking to do the same. cheers

Looks like a good job to me, i'm sure the mot tester will be happy with that! Get some waxoyl inside and on the sills to stop that rotting again and you will have years of use out of that disco. Have you done much work like that before? (I hadn't untill I got a disco!) lol
Mine is a 3door that makes it a bit more tricky to repair the bit that you look at when you open the rear doors.

ive had quite a bit of experience welding so galv was not that bad, i have used it before. just need another project now, im thinking on making a steering guard and rock sliders, anyone know where i can find the dimensions for both? thanks for looking:D

i used some hamerite seal and wax, ive never used it before, i hpe i made the right choice. and yes i do need to wax the inside too. thanks for looking:D

Sweet! I have some galv box sections kicking around, I think I konw where they are going :cool:

I have got to do this to mine soon I have the steel box section to do the job 120mmx60mmx3mm box section so they will be jackable sill the bit behind the trim seems solid but I will cut it out and then jack the box section into place the n weld it all up and refit the trim I'll fill them with waxoil but don't think 3mm box will rot quick too busy this weekend fitting poly bush kit and painting the chassis axles

just done this to one side of mine... it's huge but like you say, wont rot out quickly, just have to do the other side now. I could put my foot through the sill once i got the plastic off :D

if your welding outside you should be ok. anyone got any dimensions for a steering guard as i want to fab one. cheers
